Hello, my nickname is Chef Richard and I’m the co-owner of River Rest Weddings.

The other owner is my wife; however, and contrary to popular belief, neither myself nor Tony Danza are really the boss — that would be my Sweet Ellen.

For you and I to have a great relationship, we both must agree that food always needs to be pretty.

For over forty-four years, I’ve been “practicing” being married to my husband, Richard.

Practice doesn’t always make perfect, but it’s still good to set lofty goals.

We’ve a great story about what it takes to come full circle to a relationship that is filled with love and mutual fulfillment.

My name is Dee Wilson and I’m the River Rest Weddings’ professional event planner/wedding planner/wedding coordinator — all wrapped up as one.

I started working for River Rest Weddings in the Spring of 2017 and I’m so proud of the incredible growth and tremendous success we’ve had in such a short time.



Our Story


What started as a bed and breakfast dream for innkeepers, Richard and Ellen Mixon, soon grew into a simply beautiful wedding and special event venue, now known as River Rest Weddings. This growth was the result of engaged couples showing interest in having their weddings hosted outside in a privately-owned, park-like setting with the picturesque view of Lake Logan Martin in the background. With the addition of Dee Wilson’s extensive experience in event management, the River Rest Weddings’ team is now ready to provide you with the highest quality of customer service on your special day. This is the River Rest Weddings’ experience!
